The newly refurbished White Hart in Pool-in-Wharfedale is a Stylish pub, for relaxed drinking & dining. Boasting a vast range of delicious menus that incorporate an extensive selection of starters, mains, pub food, sharing platters and devilish desserts, you’re sure to find a dish on the menu that tantilises your taste buds.

Like a phoenix from the ashes, The White Hart at Pool-in-Wharfedale has risen like a beautiful swan after the devastating fire of last year. They closed completely for 3 months such was the devastation and we were lucky enough to be invited to the re-opening to sample the new menu and put everyone through their paces. The White Hart is a premium pub, bar, and restaurant that provides the ultimate destination to relax, unwind, mingle and indulge in a great selection of pub food, and an eclectic collection of real ales, lagers and wines. Bringing together both contemporary and traditional décor, we loved the new look of optimum style and comfort and the fresh smell of newness throughout.

Located in the picturesque village of Pool in Wharfedale, 10 miles north of Leeds city centre and 2 miles east of the market town of Otley and within easy reach of a whole host of activities, attractions, and, of course, plenty of striking country side. It has always been a favourite of ours for family celebrations and Sunday lunch so we were looking forward to seeing what their new menu had to offer.

Once seated in the restaurant with our drinks, we were pleasantly surprised to see mouth-watering selection of eight starters and fifteen main courses to choose from, plus a healthy selection of pizza’s, sandwiches and salads, leaving no excuses, there is something for everyone’s appetite and taste. Even if you just want ‘a little something’ but not a full blown meal, there’s a great selection of dishes to Nibble and Share.

We chose Scallops of the Day and Crispy Duck Wings with a plus, hoisin and sweet chilli glaze, roasted plum and toasted sesame seeds as our starters and for mains, Chicken, Leek and Crème Fraiche Pie, topped with a ham hock crumb, served with seasonal green and potato mash with heritage carrots and Roasted Pork Belly with asparagus tips with parmesan shavings on the side. Yum! The scallops were perfectly cooked, succulent and absolutely delicious. Nothing more to say but perfectly executed. The duck wings was a real plateful so make sure you’re hungry, and they were do finger licking good that I don’t think the finger bowl got a look in! I shared the wings but wasn’t prepared to share the scallops.

We also shared the mains as it’s usually the case the one of us chooses a dish that is better than the other person’s, but it has to be said, there was nothing to choose between the pie and the pork belly, both were equally delicious and neither of us had a favourite. We would be happy to order either of these dishes on future visits.

The atmosphere was relaxed, the serving team friendly and knowledgeable about the new menu and before we left we had booked to come back for Sunday lunch! Yes, it was that good. It is so good to see this place not just up and running again but back with a bang. And take it from us, The White Hart offers the perfect spot to refuel with a delicious meal after a good walk or makes a quick pit stop for a refreshing pint or even a cocktail!

So, whether you are looking for a spot to enjoy a romantic evening, a lively occasion with friends or even a quiet drink to unwind after a tough day, you’ll find everything you need at The White Hart. It’s great to have you back!
